It's been a week now that I've been home from the hospital. I am finally able to sleep in my own bed, and sleep pretty much through the night, waking a couple of times to go to the bathroom. I realized that me not being able to sleep on my back was only psychological. That helped me to lay flatter. A visiting nurse came by to take down my information so that a physical therapist could come and help me make sure that I do not lose too much movement in my right shoulder, and to help me with my knee. During the surgery, an incision was made in my right leg, by my groin area, for a camera to be put into my body, allowing the surgeons to see what they're doing. That incision has caused me to have issues with that leg. My knee is completely numb, and when I walk it can cause a lot of pain. Over the week, I've been able to work through the pain and it doesn't hurt as much, but it's still numb. According to my health insurance, I am only allowed 3 visits from the physical therapist, of, get this - only 15 minutes each. I am trying to take over more household duties. Unfortunately, I still can't pick up my 8 month old. Well, I can pick her up, but I'm not supposed to, and I'm really trying to be good about that so as not affect the stitches. My voice has not fully returned yet. Because of having a breathing tube down my throat, my vocal chords are sore, so I was basically only able to whisper really loudly for a while. Next week, I see my surgeon for an update. I'm going to ask when I will be able to pick up my daughter so that we can start making plans on how the next few months will go, as far as people helping me. |
