The first week went pretty well. I was able to get help for just about every day in the afternoon. This week has been different. I haven't been able to secure anything definite for any day. Luckily, though, on Monday we were walking to the post office and on the way back we stopped at one of S.'s friend's house, and they offered to take S to the "beach" (a lake). So she was out all day Monday. Didn't have anything planned for Tuesday. But we went to an outdoor Nature Center. Luckily it wasn't raining. That's the other issue. It's been so rainy round these here parts! Making it difficult to plan anything outdoors. And when a 4 year old is stuck indoors, it can drive you crazy. Today is Wednesday, and I have nothing planned, except for a walk to the post office... if it's not raining. So far it looks like the sun is coming out. The good thing is that a walk to the post office takes about an hour. However that leaves me with at least 2 hours before lunch... depending on when S wakes up and how long it takes for her to eat breakfast and get dressed. Lately, though, she's been waking up at 7am, which just adds to the time I have to entertain her. Tomorrow, Thursday, my wife only works half a day, and S has been asking to go to work with mommy, so she's going in. My wife works about 2 hours away from home. Didn't I tell you guys that? Yes, my wife drives 2 hours each way to get to work. So, I'm in charge of my kids from about 6AM until about 7pm. She's been looking for jobs closer to home for the past 3 years, but either the jobs have not paid enough, or she has not been hired. Friday, my wife has off, so we've got no issue there, and then next week S starts her summer program for a month and a half. We'll deal with the rest of summer later. |
