Strength Training for Kids PDF Print E-mail

So, here's a clip from the Today show:

Now, okay, maybe this is good for kids who don't have heart issues, but what about those that are diagnosed with such?

I would like to see a piece done on those kids - showing that these kids should be active as well. I've seen too many parents shut down their kid's life in fear that something might happen down the road.

Martial arts are a great place to start, specifically Tai Chi.

Tai Chi teaches you to become aware of what's going on inside your body, and it builds up the strength in your muscles, but it doesn't do this with excercises that will raise the blood pressure. Tai Chi uses repetitive movements, meditation, balance.

Many of us with Marfan lose our balance, because our body gre too fast for us to get used to it, and many of our backs are "out of whack". Tai Chi is perfect for this.

I really regret that I don't do it as much as I used to. I hope that somehow, I might be able to get my daughter started on doing it.
